A financial advisor in Naperville focused on retirement

Retire with clarity

Heritage Wealth is a financial planning and wealth management firm in Naperville for people in and near retirement. Your best years are ahead of you. Work with a team that knows how to make sure you're confident in that statement.

Where are you starting from?

Most people come to us in one of three situations.

Looking for a change

You have an advisor. A couple pie charts once a year. Questions that don't get real answers. You're not sure what you're paying for anymore.

What switching looks like →

Ready to hand it off

Thirty-five years, a 401(k), and a pension. You've handled it yourself this whole time. Now it's a bigger number and a shorter runway, and you'd rather not be the one deciding.

Happy doing it yourself

You're not looking to hand it over. You want it stress-tested by someone who does this all day.

You'll see where you're nailing it and where there's opportunity.

The questions that actually keep people up

How much can we actually spend?

Not a range, and not "you're on track." An actual number, with the tradeoffs behind it. It's the question everyone has and almost nobody gets answered.

Financial Planning →

Where does the paycheck come from?

For thirty-five years it came from work. Now it comes from four or five places at once, in an order that shapes your tax bill for the next twenty years. Getting that sequence right is most of the job.

Retirement Income Planning →

Should I be doing Roth conversions?

Maybe. There's a window between the day you stop working and the day Social Security and required distributions begin, when your taxable income is the lowest it will ever be again. For many retirees that window provides real tax planning opportunities, and it closes on its own.

How we think

Retirement planning is a series of tradeoffs

There is rarely one right answer in retirement. There are choices, and each one costs something. Converting to a Roth means paying tax now that you may not owe for years. Waiting on Social Security means spending more of your own money first. Holding more cash steadies the ride and usually gives up return.

Our job is to show you every meaningful tradeoff, make a thoughtful recommendation, and explain what you'd gain and what you'd give up. If you can't explain your plan to a friend over a cup of coffee, we haven't done our job.

You'd work with David

David Fortosis, CFP® is the owner and primary advisor, and the person you would sit down with. He built the firm and his home in Naperville, and would rather sit down with you at the office than send a PDF once a quarter.

Behind him is a Chartered Financial Analyst who is also an Enrolled Agent, and a partner tax firm that prepares and files returns with Heritage coordinating the work.

Our fee, plainly

One advisor, one fee, one person accountable for all of it. We charge 1% of the assets we manage, and that single number covers retirement planning, investment management, and strategic tax planning, with returns prepared and filed through a partner tax firm that we coordinate.

Tax Planning & Prep Included

Tax planning, preparation and filing are included in our fee. Returns are prepared and filed through a partner tax firm, with Heritage coordinating the work, so the strategies we design are implemented correctly.

Our office is at 55 Shuman Boulevard in Naperville, and we meet clients face to face — people come to us from Wheaton, Glen Ellyn, Lisle and across DuPage and Kane County. We have clients around the country, but this is home.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

How long have you been in business?

Heritage Wealth was founded in 2019 to provide comprehensive financial planning, investment management, and tax services to families approaching and in retirement.

Isn't it expensive to work with a financial advisor?

We charge 1% of the assets we manage, and that single number covers retirement planning, investment management, and strategic tax planning, with returns prepared and filed through a partner tax firm that we coordinate. One percent is a common number in this business. What you get in return, spelled out up front, is what really matters.

Where will our accounts be held?

Your accounts are held at a third-party custodian, not with Heritage Wealth directly. This provides an additional layer of security and transparency for your investments.

How often will we meet?

We schedule regular check-ins throughout the year to review your plan, discuss any changes in your life, and make adjustments as needed — and we're always available when you need us.

Can you do our taxes too?

Yes. Tax planning, preparation and filing are included in our fee. Returns are prepared and filed through a partner tax firm, with Heritage coordinating the work as part of your overall plan.

What if I already have a CPA?

Keep them. We've worked alongside outside CPAs for years and coordinate with them directly. Your fee is the same either way.

I already have an advisor. Can you still look at my plan?

Yes, and it's free. It's a couple of meetings and a real analysis rather than a quick glance at your statement — here's what that involves.

Are you a fiduciary?

Yes, Heritage Wealth is a registered investment adviser and we operate as a fiduciary. This means we are legally required to act in your best interest at all times.

Do you meet clients in Naperville, or do I have to come to your office?

Our office is at 55 Shuman Boulevard in Naperville, and that's where we meet. It's a short drive from most of the western suburbs, and sitting down together in person is the whole idea.
